Tommy Moe Bio
An American skiing hero, Tommy spends his time off skis kayaking, camping, hiking, fishing, and mountain biking. He burst on the international scene in 1994 when he became the first American male to win two medals in one Olympiad. The “Golden Boy” of the Lillehammer Games took Gold in the Downhill and Silver in Super G.
Tommy’s road to Olympic success started at age three when he clamped on his first pair of skis and took on Montana’s BigMountain. In his teens he competed in the US Alpine National Championships and World Jjunior Championships. He streaked to victory in the Super G and Combined events at the 1989 World Juniors at Mt.Alyeska, announcing that he was to be take seriously in the sport of ski racing.
The World Cup circuit proved a formidable challenge to Tommy, but he built himself up with several top-10 finishes and was mor than ready for Lillehammer. On opening day, it took Tommy just minutes to prove himself with a flawless Downhill run that earned him Olympic glory. Then, four days later on his birthday, he nabbed Silver in Super G.
To prove that his performance was no flash in the pan, Tommy carried his Olympic momentum back to the World Cup tour. Within days he was hoisted atop the awards podium as the winner of the Super G in Whistler, BC.
